Nitrous oxide

I'm really interested in a water birth... I know it something I really want to do but I keep second guessing myself. I have a high tolerance for pain but I'm a first time mom so I can't really judge my tolerance for something I've never been through.. So my question is Has any moms on here tried the nitrous Oxide patient controlled analgesia for labor pains?? I hear it's way better than epidural and much safer and has no harm on the baby during delivery.. Jus need some advice please😩😩😩😩
