Has anyone else been diagnosed as a carrier for cystic fibrosis

So this is my 3rd baby and this is the first I am hearing about me being a carrier for cystic fibrosis. I am scared. They say that it's only a concern if the father is a carrier for it as well. This is our first child together, and he has previous children that weren't born with it so he thinks he is not a carrier. There is a test but we don't have that kind of money right and insurance won't cover it. So I would like to hear some feedback from ladies that have experienced this or is a carrier or any experience dealing with a child who has it ... what happens???
