Self harm scars..

Hey guys, so I have some scars on my wrist from a time when things where really hard. I'm in a much healthier place now and I regret it a lot. They are not terribly noticeable but enough for me to be embarrassed about. They are pretty close together so I was thinking a small tattoo would cover them up. Is this a good idea? Should I try scar cream first? I don't know if that works or not but I would honestly much prefer a tattoo than 3 scars across my wrist. I can't just say "it was a cat" it's really obvious what they are from:(
