Is anyone else scared your not going to fall in love with your baby?

I'm really worried and nervous that i won't fall in love and get that instant bond when my baby is born. I don't know why I'm so worried about it. Is it normal to worry about things like this when your a first time mom? Is it just me?

This might sound weird but I didn't love my baby when he was first born. Now don't get me wrong, I wanted to protect him from everything and I was very aware of my motherly duties. I really started to love him when he could recognize me, smile at me, and laugh with me :)

It's ok not to have an instant connection. It comes over time. You probably already love and mother your baby, but the connection can come later. It's not bad, or weird. In fact it's normal.

Where you have to worry is if the feeling lasts over time and you don't feel like caring for them or yourself. This is a sign of postpartum depression.

I really didn't connect with my son until we were in our own home and out of the hospital. Honestly, I was scared to death of my son at first. I just thought if I did anything wrong he would just break and I felt like everyone was just watching me with him waiting for me to mess something up. It is also hard to have that bonding time with constant unannounced visitors and all of the hospital staff coming in your room day and night every hour. That was just my experience though!
