Am I being selfish?

I'm currently 24weeks pregnant and me and my husband have just talked about when time comes that I'm about to give birth to our child. I told him I didn't wanna anyone to be in the delivery room but him. Just him. Not anyone else. Is that a crazy request to ask for. I don't mind people coming to see the baby after it's born. I just wanted it to be me and my husband in the delivery room. I'm planning on going natural and I just don't wanna be surrounded with people who don't believe that I could do it.. my husband's the only one who believes I could.. His mom wants to be in the delivery room, am just thinking if I'm being selfish for not wanting her in there when she's my husband's mom.

I always think it's kind of odd when people request or expect to be in the delivery room. As someone on here put it "if you weren't there when the baby was made you won't be there during delivery". Or something like that lol.

No that's your personal choice since your girly bits are gonna be on display. I don't know when everyone started thinking it was a sin for the expectant mother to not want a room full of people. I see girls all the time feeling bad cause they don't want their mil or sister or whoever in the room and that person gets upset. Why would that even bother people. Ugh rant over lol

I don't think that is selfish at all! Delivery is a very personal thing. Whatever you want/whatever will make the experience the best and most relaxing for you is what really matters!

No it's up to you who is there. You'll want to be calm and relaxed. The more stressed out you are the harder labor is probably going to be. So do what your comfortable with and don't worry about others opinions.

Definitely not at all. My boyfriend and I have agreed upon no visitors whatsoever at the hospital. It's what makes the two of you most comfortable, with your comfort being the top priority. If that makes people upset, allow them to mope about it at their own homes.

No!! Not being selfish! This experience isn't about them. This is for you and your husband to share. I personally don't want anyone else besides my so in there either. I'm sure both of our families will be supportive. Its still early for me (10 weeks) but I already know what I want.

Honestly I think it's weird for his mom to want to be there n the first place. It's about u 2 and the baby, no one else actually has a right to be there, it's 100% ur choice. Even the guy doesn't rly get a say in it (at least not here)

You're not being selfish. If you only want it to be just you and your husband, do that. This is a very special moment and you should have it the way you want it. I had my husband and my mom. Any time I was checked, my mom was behind a curtain. I love my mother-in-law but I would not have wanted her in the room. I didn't want any visitors until the next day after we got some rest and that was just close family. I made everybody call beforehand because I didn't want my room filled with people.

Absolutely not. With my first child it was awful, I didn't want anyone there but no one respected me enough to wait in the waiting room. My mom didn't like his family they argued while I was in labor had been for 30 hours by that point. And when I started to get really stressed I started throwing up and it made my labor even more painful. With my second I had no one but my now ex there and it was way better more relaxed didn't worry about if anyone thought I could do it without drugs or not. No arguing, no drama. Just me, and my now ex. I didn't even bother wearing the hospital gown. It was way better that way less uncomfortable. So no its not selfish. You do what feels right for you because that'll be what's right for baby as well. If you're stressed so will your baby be.

Totally your choice, not being selfish at all.  It's a personal and special time for you and your husband. My husband told me through my entire pregnancy he didn't want to be in the room. But its entirely up to you whose there for the birth of your child! I personally had my mom in there as well as my husband. But she was in and out, updating my family in the waiting room. I do regret letting as many people as I did come in after my daughter was born, as I was exhausted and I wanted the bonding time for my new little family. Don't feel selfish, it's your miracle. ❤️
