Pitocin??

I'm fairly certain that pitocin is a very regular practice in modern L&D. I hope I can do without it, but my MIL is making it seem like a major intervention if I end up needing it. 
I just want to see how common it actually is.

My son was very anxious to meet us as he was trying to come out at 22 weeks and then again at 26 weeks. Altogether before delivering i visited and had to stay at the hospital 3 times for actual contractions. Each time i was dilated 2 cm. So when my water finally broke at exactly 37 weeks i was already 6 cm. My regular MW could not make it so i had another doc. She was nice, but she told me that if i didn’t progress (which clearly i was 🙄) she was going to give me pitocin. I kindly but firmly told her no you’re not. And there was no reason for her to even bring that up because i gave birth before the nurse could finish registering me. I trust my body, not medicine, although it does depend on what i NEED. Also, i stood up during my labor even though the nurse did not want me to. It’s unnatural to lie on your back. And like i said before, i TRUST MY BODY!

Everyone has it now. Even if they don't jump start labor they do start it after baby is born for everyone to help contract the uterus and control bleeding.

My contractions slowed while in labour and I had two choices. 
1. Vontuse
2. Picoten 
I chose a vontuse because I didn't want drugs in my system and my midwife said half of inductions result in c-sections.

Started the foley on Tuesday, Oxyticin on Wednesday, and again on Thursday and baby was born. I don’t actually know when labor started lol

I had it to bring my contractions closer together.  I was in labor with 2 minute long contractions that would peak then go down but peak again before completely passing. Then would start again every 5-7 minutes.  I was admitted at 630am and the hospital decided to give me oxytocin about 6 hours before my delivery.

I had it, I was induced my having my waters broken and pitocin drip started as I was 41+2 weeks and they were a little concerned about babies heart rate (it was fine).
I had him naturally without an epidural (I tried to get one but it didn't work lol)

It's not necessary for everyone but a lot of first time mothers have trouble going into labor (my mom could not transition to active labor until she had pitocin) and a lot of people who get epidurals need it because the numbing slows labor and they need to speed it back up.
