38 weeks pregnant and my doctor has never checked me for dialation. He said as long as all my checkups (blood pressure, urine test, blood test, babys hearth beat and I am doing well there's no need.) he doesn't want unnecessary pain. Is this normal?

Checking that late can actually induce labor. I bled so bad I was worried I'd loose my baby. There's no need to have a check then so you are lucky!

With my first pregnancy they checked once when I was getting close to my due date. With My second my OBGYN did a cervix check at 35 weeks and she told me she will be checking every week. My first wasn't painful when they did it but with my second oh gawd it was painful. I didnt know they will do it every other week but i guess it just depends on your doctor.
