Job advice! Cna vs waitress (long)
I know this is not completely pregnancy-related, but I would love some advice from you ladies. My husband and I are moving back to his hometown in about two weeks. I'm currently 17 weeks pregnant, and we're moving in order to be closer to family and live in a more stress-free environment (small town status). I have had a waitress job at a local restaurant lined up for when we move, it's about ten minutes (tops) from our new home. However this restaurant has had problems with the owner, who is there every day. She is extremely rude, last weekend my sister in law walked out the night after putting in her two weeks because she couldn't handle it anymore. She currently only has three workers because everyone else left and they are telling me not to work there. Since its SO close to my new house, and closed on Saturday mornings and Sundays all day, I was hoping that this would be a good opportunity for me since my husband doesn't work on weekends.
My own hometown is 25 minutes away, and up until January 2016 I worked at a nursing home there as a CNA. I loved it up until my last day, but I left because I was moving into our current home. The administration has mutual friends with my brother, and she has been asking him if I would come back ever since I left. I always said no, because I lived so far away. Now that I'm going to be living closer, I've been giving it some thought. She has told my brother that she will raise my pay (as long as I don't flaunt that to other CNAs) and she does know that I am now pregnant, so I'm sure I'd be worked with as far as appointments go. Basically I would have her eating out of my hand.
I'm caught between the two, though, on one hand the waitressing position is close proximity, less heavy lifting, and off on holidays like Christmas and Thanksgiving. However it's waitress minimum wage and the owner is possibly going to be mean.
I would love some opinions, please!
