I want t o take engagement photos

My fiancé proposed about 6 months ago i set a date for our wedding next summer but he proposed and didnt have a ring he had my promise ring engraved until he can afford a new ring, im not sure if i should wait until he gets my engagement ring to take photos because everyone seen my promise ring or just do it or do it without one. He has money to get me a ring but refuses because he believes i deserves some extra extravagant ring that he is trying to save for. Ik not everybody does photos but since i moved away from my mom and family and friends i just wanted them to be able to have them. Any advice?
