FTM diapering tips for boys?

Question

I'm the youngest of 2 and both girls. I've never really changed diapers so just want some tips!

Do you put diaper rash cream on every time to prevent it? What about baby powder ?

I know the basics on which way to wipe and how to put the diaper on but that's about it.

Sorry if this is silly I just never really grew up around babies and when I was I never changed them!

For my son (10months) he didn't get a diaper rash until he was 9 months and it literally lasted for 2days. I don't think boys are prone to getting rashes then girls, But that's from my personal experience. And the rash usually appears right in the middle (Between his butt and privates). I don't think you will need diaper rash cream every diaper change but I do keep it around just in case because every kid is different and you really don't know what could happen. Cover a boys penis. With a wipe or the diaper or something. You don't need to put diaper cream on unless he has a diaper rash. I've never used baby powder and pregnant with my 4th baby.

Nurse said no baby powder.

I use a little lotion each time helps prevent rash.
