Fast and furious

Sarah
I was due August 4th and when she still hadn't arrived my dr scheduled me for a section at 41 weeks exactly. I wanted to avoid an induction at all costs so I walked, stayed active, had sex, ate spicy food. Nothing. I went to work Monday, worked a full day and had a NST at my dr office. She checked my cervix at 4pm and I was 3-4 cm dilated and 80-90% effaced. Went home and started having a mild contraction here and there. I made dinner for hubs and myself and my contractions got stronger and more consistent. He left to go pick something up and I took a shower because I couldn't get comfortable. Once he was home I couldn't sit still and couldn't find relief in any position. My contractions went from 7-8 min apart at 530 to 2-3 min apart at 8. We drove to the hospital thinking we might get sent home (it can't happen this fast for a ftm right?) We parked, walked up to L&D, signed paperwork and got set up in a room. I was still walking and talking through it all and joking with my nurse. She hooked me up to monitors and started calling for a dr to check me. Then my contractions became closer and more intense. I asked for an epi and when the dr showed up like 2 min later she told me it was too late, I was fully dilated and her head was coming. The nurses moved into high speed to get set up for delivery. 5 sets of 3 pushes and she was delivered by one of the nurses, none of the OBs made it in time! We got to the hospital at 9pm and she was delivered at 1011pm. All natural, no pain meds, fast and furious and not how I envisioned the birth being at all. I couldn't be happier that she's here and everything went so well. An hour after the birth I was up and walking around with no restrictions. It is truly amazing what our bodies can do even if we aren't sure that they can. I'm so proud to be a Momma!
