Semen analysis, etc. Updated

Hey guys,

I figured I've been lurking long enough, time to share my story thus far.

DH had his reversal done in June by Dr. Burrows at ICVR in Arizona (seriously can't recommend those guys enough, they've been wonderful every step of the way). Even though it had been about 15 years since the vasectomy, he was able to do the vas to vas connection on both sides.

First SA at 4 weeks post surgery, count was less than 1 million, 0% motility. The doctor said this was not abnormal this soon after surgery, and that there may be some inflammation, so he put DH on Prednisone.

Got the second SA results yesterday (from 8 weeks post surgery), counts up to 2.2 million, but still no motility. Any improvement is better than no improvement, but the doctor was concerned that there might still be inflammation, and is starting DH on a stronger anti-inflammatory, as well as Fertilaid to hopefully help with the motility.

I understand there's about a 90 day turn around time for sperm production, so we may not start seeing decent numbers for another month or so. I'm trying my best to be patient and positive, I know 2 months is nothing compared to how long some of you have been waiting. I admire your strength, may we all get our BFPs soon!

Update: so the tech read the results of the second SA wrong. It was 2.2 ml (fluid volume), not 2.2 million. Count was still less than 1 million, i.e., no improvement.

Third SA, count still less than one million, 0% motility. Still no improvement.

We're due for the 4th SA, but haven't done it yet because we're trying to find a new clinic/lab to go to; the one we've been using isn't used to dealing with vasectomy reversal patients and doesn't understand why we keep getting SAs every month, so they keep putting "suggestion: donor" on the bottom of the paperwork and it's starting to make us really mad.

Just had the 4th SA done... we have improvement!!!

Numbers jumped to 35 million! Only 2% motility, but it's sure better than zero!
