What's your opinion?

I have a friend who is always posting breastfeeding pics. She still lets her 4 yr old nurse, even when she doesn't have any milk. (She was pregnant and it dried up for a while, she called it "dry nursing." I am NOT JUDGING something I know nothing about, so spare the "*gasp* how dare you?!!!" comments. I am simply wanting to know the reason someone would do this? I mean, there are pics of her with the boob out, child holding the boob with her hand, nipple in mouth, giving the camera a thumbs up.....she's four. I don't understand. Help me understand this person lol. ETA...if there is a benefit to breast milk at 4 & 5 yrs old, why not pump?

Each to their own but I mean 4 years old is just plain odd in My opinion. The world health organisation recommend breast milk until 3 years. I breastfed for 12 months, for me that was long enough.  
Letting a 4 year old suckle on a dry breast is so creepy 😱😵😨

To each their own I guess, but putting pictures on social media is crossing a line for me. Especially with it being a four year old, and her being dried up. 😳😳

That's strange to be breastfeeding a 4 year old. I will probably only breastfeed up until 12 months max.

Makes me think of Game of Thrones - that 12 year old breastfeeding still.

I would think that at 4 years old, the child will remember breastfeeding, and that seems uncomfortable to me. Plus those photos may haunt the kid later on in life.

If the child can walk up to you and ask for milk they are too old to be breastfeeding in my opinion

There is absolutely no reason to "nurse" a child when you have no milk.
In my opinion, even if you have milk a 4 year old doesn't need to be nursed and there's no reason to be constantly taking pictures and posting them online.. Even if you're nursing a newborn. 
I have a friend who does the same thing, and I think it's some attempt to get a rise out of people.

This is just me...but after a year or a year and a half I plan to stop breastfeeding. Seeing kids who have full sets of teeth, and can speak in full sentences that still breastfeed is just crazy to me. I could see pumping milk and giving it to them, but actually allowing them to suck on your breast when they're that old is something I couldn't personally do.

I read this and looked at my three year old daughter and I couldn't imagine still breastfeeding her. My mom apparently nursed me until I was 3 but 🙈 idk. I wanted to breastfeed my daughter for as long as possible and I thought two would be my cut off but we reached 18mos and my body was just telling me to stop. I couldn't take it anymore it was the weirdest sensation! But I weaned her off and I was proud I made it that far! I think 4 is pushing it & I thought the same  when I read your last sentence/question .. Why not pump?! 🙃
