Should I make him a wait even though we've already done it?

I know its a strange question to ask. I love him but all of my friends and sister say I gave it up too fast. We aren't dating yet (he just broke up with his gf and doesn't want to be a dick by jumping into something so fast). We've been talking for two months and he broke it off with her a week or so ago. (Dont judge us please his gf is... Not all that great of a person I'll just put it as that.) So now I'm not sure if I should tell him no now until after we officially make it public (my friends say he might not even date me. I don't believe he'd do this but they did put that twinge of doubt in my mind.) I'm just confused at what to do.

I suck with decisions pertaining to boys.
