How did you find out you were having twins?

What were your HCG levels at 5 weeks and 3 days?

My hcg levels were almost 500000 at 8 weeks. Doc requested an us to determine multiples and as soon as the wand was on my belly, I could clearly see twins!

My hCG levels were normal. It was my progesterone that was high. First pregnancy they were at 12, and this pregnancy they were at a whomping 44.

I never had those checked. I found out at my dating scan at 8 weeks when two bubs showed up on the screen.

One HCG value won't tell you anything.   Two values, if they double faster than usual, COULD indicate twins.   However HCG values alone are never enough to diagnose twins.  An ultrasound is needed to determine that for sure.    
Anyways, my twin HCG values were:
136 (4 weeks)
365 (4 weeks 2 days)
1292 (4 weeks 5 days)
4864 (5 weeks 2 days)
