Told My Mom About Having Sex

So, today I told my mom about losing my virginity to my boyfriend of 4 months a while back. I told her that I've only had sex once when in reality I am sexually active. She told me if I was going to be sexually active to tell her so that she could take me to the gynecologist to get checked and started on birth control. I told her that even thought im not going to have sex i still wanted to go to the gynecologist to get checked and started on birth control. my boyfriend doesnt know i told my mom we've had sex once and says I shouldn't tell her if she asks anyways. thoughts? what do you think i should do?
