LEGAL ADVICE NEEDED!

Hello,

I am a non-custodial mother seeking for the quickest way to gain custody of my babies. My ex-husband gained custody of our children by default because I did not have an attorney and was not aware I needed to be in court. If the ex is not working, and is living with his mother, can I get custody of my kids if I live out of state?
