C-section or natural birth? Why?

I'm pregnant with my first, but I'm not sure what birthing route I should choose. Any advice would be helpful ☺️

Why would anyone willingly have a c - section? I don't think people realise it's MAJOR surgery and alot of recovery. 
Natural is exactly what it says on the tin....natural. our bodie are made for it. OK obviously minus any safety problems that may arise then a section would be safer. But choosing a section over natural is absolute madness to me.

From my understanding ( at least at my hospital) one does not choose a c-section. There has to be a reason ( blood pressure, baby in distress,etc) before they choose to do sugery.

C sections are more dangerous for you, and have way worse healing. A c section is major abdominal surgery. So your insides get shoved around and cut in to. I wouldn't want to be healing from major surgery while meeting my newborn. Also, c sections can lead to future complications. They leave scar tissue. A vaginal delivery hurts for a bit while it's happening and stings a bit afterward or is a bit sore, but a c section leaves a big wound in your tummy

I will say this to help less shame be put on women who have a c section.not everyone's body can push a baby out.i have been struggling for 6 days with this.i went in last Monday to be induced and was in natural labor for 12 hours with no progress.i was in active labor for about 8 1/2-9 hours.i broke at the end and got an epidural which I am happy that I did,because we found out during my labor that unfortunately my pelvis is not big enough for a baby to pass through.i will never be able to have a natural birth as far as my doctor is concerned.wont even let me try.im gonna say my recovery is not a typical recovery from a c section now that I see how most women recover.i was up within 24 hours and showering.i had to get some real food inside of me first before I could truly walk or get up.my iv caused my hand to swell up and I had to go without pain med for a good 2 or 3 hours while they pressed on me to see how my uterus was healing and how my bleeding was doing.my nurses were honestly shocked at how well I was doing and how quickly I was getting to my recovery.i went home not even 48 hours after my c section.my mil was shocked at how I was doing too.she has had two c sections and couldn't even do half of what I was doing.but if you can have a natural birth I do suggest it.the recovery will more than likely be easier for a vaginal delivery than a c section . personally I think my personality played a huge factor in how I am doing post c section.i am a determined and independent person so being confined to a bed and also having to watch others care for my son drove me nuts.think carefully before you make this choice.for me this was very traumatic because it was not a part of my plan and surgery scared the crap out of me.still does . especially since my husband could not be in the room with me since I had to be put under anesthesia.

Obviously you wouldn't "choose" a c-section if this is your first birth...so natural :) because that's what your body is for

I got induced and needed emergency forceps due to my son's heart rate dropping, i got cut and tore up the sides of my vagina. If i knew my vagina would end up looking like this, i would have asked for a csection, i don't have sex with my partner because of it. I am 9 weeks postpartum😕

I have had both a emergency c-section and a natural birth. Personally i found both had pros and cons about them. Csection restricted me from driving and heavy lifting for 6 weeks after. Could not have a bath or shower imediately after. Recovery was fast i was on my feet withen few days but it wasn't pleasant having a catheter in confined to bed for two days! Natural birth i had epi dural which didn't work and gave me hell after. I recovered reasonably well and it was a god send taking a shower and freshening up afterwards made me feel soooo much cleaner and better in general. Downside to natural birth was epi dural giving me hell id definately choose a better pain relief option. Im 22 wks tuesday and this time ive no choice im having a planned csection due to medical reasons but if i could choose from the two id go natural!

Go for natural if you can. They have pain meds. C section is a major surgery that you by no means should voluntarily choose. Longer harder recovery time and unnecessary risks. Its fine if necessary to have one done but Id advise not volunteering to go that route.

Choose natural but be open to c-section. My birth plan was to have a natural, un-medicated birth but ended up being induced due to pre-eclampsia, then after 24 hours of labor I still hadn't progressed past 7cm and I had developed HELLP syndrome so I had to get an emercency c-section. The worst part of yet recovery is being so incapacitated. It also makes it harder to care for your baby. So unless it's necessary, I'd stay away from c-section.
