Relationship concern

Well ladies my boyfriend is 21 and I'm 17 turning 18 in November and every time I tell someone about our amazing relationship they always say that it's wrong for us to be together because of our age gap so I need help, is our age gap to big or is it okay ??  My ex called him a pedo and said that I must of been desperate to date him which really annoyed me
