The end result is gonna be the same no matter what. Plus there are false results so why put yourself under stress thinking there may potentially be something wrong and then everything turn out fine. Just not worth that chance

I honestly only did genetic testing so I knew the gender early, if I would've had to pay out of pocket I would've opted out of it because I'll love my son regardless :)

I said no, but really it's more of a yes and no.

I did do the Nuchal Translucency test. It came back fine and helped give me some peace of mind.

However, muscular dystrophy runs in my family and the genetic counselor offered an amniocentesis to check and see if baby has it... I won't be doing any tests that put baby even a little at risk.

I considered then decided against anything invasive unless determined necessary by the Dr.

We declined. The way it was explained to us was that if it comes back 1 in 100, it's a negative result. But if it comes back 1 in 99, that's a positive (even though that's still a very low chance.) Since I deal with anxiety already anyways, and abortion would never be an option for us, we decided not to add unneeded stress. Just our personal decision though :)

Yes because there are false positives that then stress you out and possibly harm baby by further testing. We knew we could keep the baby no matter what so we didn't care of something was wrong.

I did it because I needed peace of mind to make aure everything was okay. Even if everyone on both sides of the families are okay there is always a chance.

No major genetic issues run on either side of my family.  Plus if my child had an issue I personally wouldn't want to know while pregnant just because it would stress me and baby out and make things worse. ...
