My doctor specifically warned me to revert back to a Paleo diet post-morning sickness, telling me that with PCOS I already overproduce insulin.  Insulin is a growth factor, and you could have a really big baby, bigger than you can push out. I asked her about diet because I couldn't get a satisfactory answer from my OBGYN. Her response?  "OBGYNS will tell you everything from ACOG because they don't want to get sued. You can't tell me that our ancestors, giving birth for centuries, followed the ACOG diet, especially in hunter gatherer societies. The only way I have found to control insulin resistance is little to no carbs, and I would recommend intermittent fasting once you are over the morning sickness."
Love my OBGYN, but I need real talk, based upon my health, not general guidelines.
