Breastfeeding for comfort?

So my ds I'd 3 days old and breastfeeding has been going well until tonight. As soon as I lay him down he cries and starts giving hunger cues. The only thing that calms him is latching on. His sucking is productive and he usually falls asleep after 10-15 mins but then I go to lay him down and back to square one. 😩 This doesn't seem like cluster feeding but I'm a ftm so I don't know. Also, we're not using a pacifier until at least 2 weeks old (preferably 3 or 4) so he doesn't get confused when latching to nipple. It seems like he's using feeding for comfort and I'd love tips on how to fix this without a pacifier.
