should I take birth control?

I'm 19 years old, and have never had sex, I don't really plan on having sex anytime soon .. Although I do have a boyfriend. I do have acne and really bad periods, I'm debating on wether or not I should take birth control.. My periods have always been regular and on time. They just seem to be getting more painful, so my mom and doctor suggested birth control... I am hesitant to take it just because My friend from school took birth control and it created cysts in her ovaries and they've had to get multiple surgeries and now she can't have children, and I do want to have children! I'd like to know anyone's opinion or experience with the pill specifically. I know this is no ones descision but mine but I'd really like to know if anyone else was worried about this before taking it..?

Its totally up to you. It sounds like you could benefit from using a combination method like the pill, nuvaring or dermal patch for your periods.

I was in somewhat the same situation as you. But I had ovarian cysts on top of all that. I didn't want to take it because of the effect it would have on my body. But honestly, taking the pill has been the  best decision I could have made. I'm no longer in pain all the time and my periods are so much lighter. Ultimately it's up to you though. Just think of how much better you'll feel

All those hormones they pump into you are horrible, and I will never use birth control again. Also, if you use it to treat acne, it will get worse if you ever get off the birth control again. I would suggest an acne medication, and they do have them. I just don't remember what it's called. African black soap also works wonders for acne. Cleared me right up.

talk to your gynecologist & make sure you include why you want to take it, so he/she can prescribe you with one to fit your needs

Ok for one , yes birth control can fuck up your hormones. But it can also help . I have ovarian cyst, and completely AWFUL periods . Cramps that put me on the floor if I'm up moving around when they start to flare . When I was 14 I was put on birth control, we thought it would work and help with all of my problems ( the ones I said are not all of them ) . Sadly we were wrong I was on the pill . It had a high dose of estrogen. Which is what caused the problem of making everything worse . Literally . So I got off and went back to the way I was before . Now I have the nexplanon. So far I haven't had nearly as many problems . It all depends on YOU . And Your body.

I would strongly advise against it. Your period is a natural thing. Birth control fucks up your hormones and changes it. If you're experiencing discomfort change your diet and excercise and you will see improvement. Better to do that than to pump your body full of uneccessary chemicals that will completely change your body's natural hormones.
