Baby's heartbeat skips a beat every couple beats

Hello all! So I have had a doppler since early in my pregnancy but haven't used it since I started feeling him move. Tonight I listened and noticed right away every couple of beats there was a skip. My boyfriend listened and also heard it, and said "see, this is why you shouldn't have bought a doppler!" Now I'm worried and wondering if anyone has had a similar experience? I have an appointment in 2 weeks, and am currently 24 weeks.
