Legally Okay?

Okay so I've got a question for you ladies. My boyfriend is 20 and I'm 17, I'll be 18 next summer. If we have consensual sex could he get in trouble? I have heard that the age of consent is 16 if your partner is within four years of your age. But I'm unsure and he and I want to be sure before we do something that could get him in trouble.

Also please don't give me hate or whatever for having sex "underage" I see it on here a lot and I understand that you're totally entitled to your own opinion and I respect that. However I do not agree with it, so, please only comment if it has to do with my question and not which age it's appropriate to start being sexually active at.

UPDATE - So I looked up the Maryland law and it says the age of consent is between 14-16 as long as the older person is withing four years. The KS so much for all your help guys 💕💕
