marriage

Kelsey
So me and my boyfriend have been together for 2 years and I am almost 7 months pregnant with our son. We decided that we will just have a very small cookout type wedding or just go to the courthouse. We don't have the money for a wedding especially not with a baby, and neither of our parents will be able to help us either. I'm bummed but I've come to terms with it. I did tell him that it's important to me that he asks me to marry him in a creative romantic way and I'm fine with a cheap ring. He was talking to his mom and she said 'you don't need a ring, just get cheap wedding bands'. Am I being selfish for wanting some sort of tradition marriage aspect? I feel like if we don't have a wedding, and engagement or engagement ring it's not going to feel like a marriage. I feel like we are doing it because we have to and it will feel like a chore rather rather than a special day or something romantic and done out of love. We had always talked about getting married prior to getting pregnant so that's not just the reason, we do love each other a lot.
