Placebo Week

So I recently started birth control. I waited a month and had a follow up appointment with my doctor before being sexually active with no other methods of protection with my boyfriend. Now, I am on day 3 of my placebo week and still no period. Last month, I got my period on day 2. Is this normal? Should I be concerned that the birth control didn't work and I might be pregnant? I have no symptoms but a stuffy nose, acne and excessive amount of gas. I work with children so the stuffy nose could be from the germs I share daily with them. Someone please calm my nerves!
