New to BC. some clarification?

So I'm new to the birth control thing. I started on the pill.While I was talking to my doctor i was all over the place and didn't think to ask some stuff. I know the first 3 weeks are all hormone pills and they say to make sure you take then everyday or you have a higher chance of becoming pregnant. So if on the week of the sugar pills you have unprotected sex wouldn't you have a higher chance of being pregnant?
