awkward conversation about my dating life..

So I'm 21 and a single mom. It's been one year since my daughters father and I were in a relationship.. I've dated around but had nothing too serious because of a "problem." my mom (who baby sits my daughter) wants me to take my daughter on my dates. I did this one time, but it ended up in a complete disaster because my daughter got attached to him but I had no connection/feelings towards him at all.. She ended up calling him "daddy" and she still asks about him to this day.. So ending that was very difficult for me. It's been months since that happened and I want to see other people, however my mother doesn't understand that it's unhealthy for my daughter to see men coming in and out of her life.. How can I explain this to her? She believes that I shouldn't date anyone I don't see myself marrying but the thing is, how will I know that if I can't get to know them? Any ideas on how to talk to her about this?
