SCREW GENDER ROLES! since I had my baby shower a week ago I have received mostly hate because the them was "tutus & touchdowns". I'm a huge college football fan and not one bit ashamed of that and my daughter will be decked out in Georgia Bulldog gear until she's old enough to say "mommy I don't like football". How dare people put me down for liking something and being passionate about something "not girly". Why should I raise my daughter not to enjoy football just because she's a girl? So annoying!

I have a 6 year old daughter and another girl on the way...I keep telling people not to get anything pink. I hate girly things lol. My shower theme this time around is going to be Halloween themed.

With my oldest son everyone questioned why I had a pink cake instead of a blue one or whatever. I just really wanted a strawberry cake and it was hard for people to comprehend that lol. Do what you want cause its for you and your daughter they aren't raising her.

I can't believe people would do that to you! Clearly they don't know you very well if they would criticize you for that. I'm not finding out if I'm having a boy or girl, but if I did know Imani I was having a girl, I would refuse anything pink or overly girly. I hated girly things and was such a tomboy growing up so I wouldn't make my daughter a girly girl unless she decided that for herself. People need to get over the gender roles. Some boys like dolls and some girls like trucks. It doesn't matter these days. Good for you though for expressing who you are!

The only people I know who love football are women. And every time I talk to a man about football, I find he doesn't understand the rules as well as I do and I am just a casual fan. My mom, sister, lady boss, aunt and a hoard of lady coworkers are cult level football followers. Maybe once upon a time a long time ago, football was for boys, but that's not the case anymore. Now football is for awesome people. You are clearly an awesome person in the process of making a wee awesome person. If they are so stuck on a dumb color coding based on genitals, then I pity their short sightedness.

I've been debating doing something that isn't considered boy based for this same reason - gender-specific roles. I got a lot of shit from my MIL because in our cribs "teddy group" (we have a HEAP of stuffed toys in his crib currently) lied a Jessie the Cowgirl doll. She kept asking things like "So what if next he wants to wear dresses or makeup?"

She looked ignorant when I said that was the last toy I ever got from my Grandfather before he passed away, and I wanted my baby to have a piece of him. But still, ever since I've been looking for something just to upset her lol.

Here's some pictures. I was so excited then people started to show up and they crazy looks came with them! I tried not to let it bring me down and over all it was a good day! It has just been heavy on my mind since the shower with all the comments I've received.
