Does contractions happen lower belly or top

Question

Hi I'm a FTM and I had a doc appointment earlier she said she didn't want to go to high up and hurt me to see how far dilated I am. I'm 38w2d and I think I'm feeling contractions in my lower belly.. Can anyone tell me their experience

Had mine low and also went into my back

Labor contractions happen down low,  so it's definitely possible you're starting labor.  Time them and see if there is a pattern.  There are apps that can help you figure out if you're truly in labor based on the timing of your contractions.
