Help! Contractions

I'm 39 weeks, I have been having consistent contractions while sitting up and walking. I understand in "true" labor position does not change contractions. I've been trying to stay up right to encourage these contractions. I finally laid down and now they're more spread out. Should I go back to sitting up right/walking? Or am I just wasting my time? I read online (a factual study) that said sometimes being bed stricken (which I don't have to be at this point) decreases contractions and makes labor longer!! Any advice is appreciated. Thank you ladies
*by walking I mean just picking up my house and walking inside its 10pm here and still 95 out lol
