Am I protected?

Question

I started my period on September 10th and I started taking my birth control that day. So I took an active pill the 10th and then the next few days up until now I been taking the colored ones. Am I safe to have unprotected sex yet or is it only when I been taking the active pills? I've never been on the pill so I'm a little confused! My Dr also never explained how they work, she just gave them to me after I had my Mirena removed.

You should probably call your doctor and ask them for instructions. That's really unprofessional of her not to give you the proper directions. I'd honestly not trust them as my primary anymore if my doctor did that..
I don't know much about that particular brand, but generally you should always use a second form of contraceptive (e.g. condoms) until after at least one week or two of the active pills.
