How much clothing do I NEED for a newborn? We are tight on money and have gotten plenty of hand me downs but they are all mainly 3 mo+, how much newborn clothing do I really need to buy?

Let baby wear slightly too big clothes :) we only used about five 0-3 sleepers but we did laundry every three days.

Depends how often you want to do laundry! Babies will go through 2-3 sleepers a day in the beginning. I just got a couple of nb size sleepers and maybe eight 0-3 size, plus some onsies and pants.

Buy second hand. I got lots of great stuff at Goodwill. Baby may go through several outfits a day, so depends on how much you want to do laundry.

Look and see if there is a mommy to mommy page on Facebook for your area.  I bought a diaper box full of gently used newborn and 0-3 month clothing for $10.

I just brought tons of clothes from target. I usually don't shop there but they are selling off baby clothes for a company brand they will no longer carry. I found outfits from new born to about 6mths for cheap. Everything was about $3-6 each. I only got my son about 5newborn outfits because he will grow out of that quickly from what I hear. Focus on size 0-6mths for now. I think my son will have about 30 outfits or more from 0-6mths. Off Walmart has good deals onesies be about $2.00. Most of the clothes will be that in the early months.. Good luck!

You can get pieces like this around 40 bucks they have lots of choices, it comes in handy. Im on a tight budget but these 0-3 month bundles are great. They are at babies r us, target and Walmart.

It depends how often you want to have to do laundry! From my experience with nieces and nephews they tend to get through at least two but often 3 or 4 changes a day - you can reduce it a bit by using milk bibs to catch spit up and trying to get to diapers before they explode, but I think 2 is still bare minimum because you'll want a fresh change in the morning and at bedtime.  If you have more clothing then you're able to do laundry a couple of times a week rather than daily.

In size 0-3 we got between 15-20 vests and sleepsuits, 25 bibs, 15 pairs of socks, 5 or so little hats, 6 pairs of scratch mittens, then for general everyday clothes we're probably aiming for around 10 trousers and tops, we have a winter coat and a hoodie, and a couple of pram suits to keep them warm while out when its cold

My son was born 8lbs 2 oz and didn't fit in some of his newborn clothes. The 0-3 month sizes worked well for us . And he fits in a lot of his 3 month stuff too, he's only 4 weeks old lol
