a positive induction story

Tara
I found out that I had to be induced at 39.4 due to possible collestatis. I went in at 9am for blood work and they ended up admitting me for induction. I was terrified and had heard so many induction horror stories. When I was admitted I was not dilated at all, the baby had not dropped and I was still high and very thick. The doctor warned me to be prepared for a "very long induction". I was given cervadil at 4pm exactly. I was told it would stay in for 12 hours. At 6:20pm my water broke and they removed the cervadil at that time. At 8pm they placed a foley bulb and told me we would leave in for 12 hours since even though my water broke, I was not dilated at all. 3am I woke up with horrible back labor. Worst pain I have ever felt. Spent the hours of 3am - 7am throwing up from intense back pain. The foley was removed at 7am and I was 4 centimeters dilated. Baby was still high. At 8am they started pitocen and I got an epidural. The doctor said they would come back and check me at noon and they were hoping I would progress to 5 centimeters by then and active labor. Around 11am I started to feel so much pressure I thought I was going to poop myself. The hospital doctors were all busy in c-sections so my nurse found a resident who came to check me and advised I was fully dilated and ready to push. I had to wait for my midwife to get there and literally hold him in. At 1:44pm after 20 minutes of pushing he was born. Total including all labor and pushing was less than 22 hours and I slept for a decent amount of that time. Good luck to everyone!
