pacifiers?

Can breastfed babies use pacifiers? I think the nurse told me not too but I honestly I'm not sure. He's almost 2 weeks old

We started the pacifier when he was two days old. It's a life saver lol he doesn't have an issue with latching.

I'm a labor and delivery nurse in a pro-breastfeeding hospital and I gave my baby one the night he was born even though our lactation consultant told me not to. I've seen way too many women crying at 2 am and wanting to switch to formula because the baby stays on the breast constantly and they're hurting and exhausted. My baby has never had latch problems. All babies are different but I am all for a pacifier.

My son got a paci at 2 days old the plan was to never give him one but in the hospital he wanted to be latched for 3 hours straight and I was almost in tears from the pain. My nipples thanked me for changing my mind. Fast forward to 9 days old and now I'm having a difficult time getting him to take his paci he wants my boob over the paci. Sore nipples again I guess.

I started using 1 at 2 weeks only because he wanted to stay latched on to me for comfort and (for me) that's a no. We haven't had an issue for a week but I think it helps that I use a nipple shield. It's closer to a pacifier and they're both plastic so I think it helps lessen the confusion/preference

**Just be sure to not give the pacifier when LO is showing hunger signs!

I gave my son a pacifier when he was a few days old. Lol I was tired of being a human pacifier! It really helped us and he has no issue switching from binky to breast to bottle. Some babies I know struggle with this though! Good luck and always remember to do what is best for you and your baby!

They usually recommend waiting until 4-6 weeks to introduce a pacifier. Honestly though, you can use one whenever you'd like- just make sure you do it after baby learns to latch well.

My son is 3 months old and we gave him one a few hours after he was born. He is EBF and he never got nipple confusion. I think it just depends on the baby. Some babies won't even take a binky

My son nursed and used a pacifier from the beginning. I heard that you should wait but that was after I had him on a pacifier but luckily he has no issues with nursing feeding from a bottle or using his pacifier. He's universal 😂
