grunting and fidgeting

My LO is 11 days old and for quite a while now he seems to grunt and fidget a lot. It started off that he'd do it when waking up for a feed but now he seems to do it when he's awake as well. At first I thought it was because he was just trying to fight going to sleep but I've read that they're too young to do that yet? Has anyone else had this problem and know what is causing him to grunt and fidget?
