Getting checked to see if you're dilating?

Can getting checked to see if you're dilating help speed things up? I got checked for the first time today, I'll be 36 weeks Friday and I was wondering if by getting checked if it was make me dilate faster or make me lose my mucus plug. (Also when I got checked, my OB said I wasn't a 0 but I wasn't a full 1 and my cervix was EXTREMELY soft and he could feel babies head)

I got checked Friday at 35+5, and started losing my mucus plug Saturday night.  Could be completely unrelated, but that's all I've got 😊 I was also checked a couple weeks ago though and nothing then so who knows?

When my doctor checked at 36 weeks (2cm) she didn't stretch me but did at 38 (4cm) and 39 (6cm)

I feel like I was still a 1 this week and my Dr pushed me to a 2. I bled s good bit today. 😂

It's quite dangerous that so many of your doctors are doing vaginal checks that early. They should be waiting until at least 38 weeks. The possibility of helping you along at 35-36 weeks is scary considering your baby is not full term, not to mention the risk of infection of the check.
