Put off by popular boy names, or...? Help!

Question

I had a baby boy name I've always loved and decided I would name my son since I was oh... 13?

I guess it happens to be very popular this year. My MIL keeps saying we shouldn't name him that because everyone else will have that name... and she's starting to effect me by constantly saying that.

Would you be put off by this? What're your thoughts? Would you go ahead and name your son that anyways, or feel a more unique name would be better?

Daddy and I can't seem to agree on anything else, either... confused 🙃

Don't let anyone talk you out of the name that you picked because you might regret it later! If this is the name you want to call your son then go for it :) this is why we decided not to tell anyone the name we picked because we didn't want to hear anyone's negative opinions. It's your baby and it's your decision!

I want to know the name! Lol... Even if it's common, I think if you love it and your man is on board, you should use it... Maybe have a back up name to feel comfortable.. Then when your baby is here you can decide what the baby looks more like?

I don't let anyone's opinion phase me anymore. I'm naming my son Nasir...which happens to be the name of a famous rapper.  But honestly I heard it on a cooking channel show and thought it was super unique and loved the way it sounded. My boyfriend's mom and sister keep trying to get us to change it because she says that people will constantly mispronounce his name as "nacer" or something ridiculous. 🙄 At first, it was very hard for me to not let anyone's opinion make me second guess our choice, but now...I just shrug it off. If they want to name a baby, they can have another one. lol

Don't worry about it and use it!
My son is called George, a few months after his birth Prince George was born and everyone in England named their boys George too! 
It was hugely popular that year.
We have never met another George and he doesn't have one in his class at school either.
I just don't think it matters anyway!

Actually I see it all over the name polls in the top 5 but I have yet to ever meet a child named Liam even on passing. I think it's a very strong manly name and I would use it. I told my husband I liked Liam Oliver but he didn't care for it. I'm having the is it a too popular name question myself right now but it's just our boys middle name so I'm not too concerned. We're considering Jenson for a middle.

The names I have always wanted for girls are both ridiculously popular lol I have a Sophia but I honestly don't care it fits her so well. If this baby is a girl she will also have a popular name but oh well! We both love it.

All that matters is you both love the name
