my babyshower

My cousin texted my husband last night telling him that my mother and her wanted to go half on my babyshower which of course I'm really grateful for. My husband said he can help with anything they needed so my cousin told him they also want him to pitch in money for the babyshower. I don't know... In my sense of thought if they both decided they wanted to do a babyshower for me, why are they asking my husband to pitch in? Shouldn't this be something for US? We're kind of broke so we had thought about just taking everyone out to dinner instead. I'm not saying they have to do the whole thing by themselves, of course I'm going to help. But how are you going to ask my husband to also go half on the money when it was them who planned it. Am I making sense?
