move up to size 2 diaper?

How do you know when to move up a size in diapers? My lo is 9 weeks and 2 days. Weighs a little over 12lbs. And the size one kinda seems like it's starting to get tight and last night he leaked thru his diaper twice. They still seem to fit but I wasn't sure if the leaking was a sign? Wanted to get everyone else's opinion. I still have one whole box of 252 size 1 diapers :( such a bummer!

If it's leaking and tight, go ahead and move up a size, hold on to the 1s a few days to see if the bigger diaper helps, if so exchange the diapers. I've always found I need to go up a size before the weight limit chart on the diaper box says so.  Also for leaks, make sure the onesie is extra loose in the bottom.  If it just fits, it will push up on the diaper when it gets full.

Up to you, if your baby is comfortable either way. Maybe use size 1 during the day and size 2 at night? That's what I did until she was leaking during the day too.

You can go by weight, the size 2 starts with 12lbs. My LO is just over 12lbs so we're using the size 2 and just pulling the tabs all the way to the middle and they are working great!

You can use the smaller diapers during the day and in between naps when you know you will be changing out more often.

My little big guy was 10lb4oz at birth so we skipped right through the newborn and were in size 1 for a couple of weeks until I had to advance to size 2! He's 8weeks now and prob around 15lbs, I've got another box of size 2 to go through and will decide from there if we need to move to 3's!

We switched when she started leaking out of hers. And so far the size twos have been much better. It was also getting a little tight on her belly. It's really a personal choice whenever you think your baby is ready
