Tell the neighbors?

Question

I'm planning a home birth for my first.  I live in a neighborhood with 1/3 acre lots.  I worry that I will become self-conscious about making too much noise during labor and not be able to surrender in the way I want.

I was thinking about a simple note on the doors of the nearest houses that I would be going through labor at home.  There may be a woman moaning or screaming and not to worry or call 911.

Thoughts?  Neighbor stories?

You don't necessarily make that much noise. A lot of births I've seen have sounded more like someone is lifting weights than screaming bloody murder. Most, in fact.

I putting a sign in my door, stating I'm in labor and to please not knock or disturb if it isn't a life or death situation. I dont really want to shout to the whole neighborhood I'm in labor, plus it would take too much time. If they get worried and come to my door they will see the sign I hung up.

I'm not telling them but I am going to hang a "home birth in progress do not disturb" sign. I'm in an apartment complex.

I didn't tell any neighbors, never crossed my mind. So what if they hear some grunting and crying?

I labored at home until 7cm before I was transferred to the hospital (we were planning a home birth,) and I was worried because I went into labor in the middle of the night but when you walked outside the house you couldn't hear anything. Unless you have extremely thin walls or you live in an apartment, you should be good!
