Breasting can cause weight gain?

Question

So i just came back from my dr appointment and explain my situation that i have been dieting, excersing and breasting to lose weight but instead of losing weight ive been gaining? He explained that maybe in my case, instead of losing weight like you normally would will breasting im gaining weight b/c something about retaining nutritents? Have you guys ever heard something like this?

You do get more efficient at using nutrients when breastfeeding and if you're not eating enough (because of dieting) your body will go into starvation mode and that will ruin your weight loss. I breastfeed (baby is 6 months now) and though I think that she might be the reason I'm keeping the last 10 pounds (at least three of which are breast because mine got huge!), she certainly didn't make me gain weight. She and I together have weighed about 163 pounds for the last six months so I figure I'm slowly moving my calories in to her :) but I have no problem with being 146 because it's well within the normal range for my height (5'6"). I figure I just have to store a little extra for her in case of famine lol.  But I doubt that breastfeeding could make you gain weight.

I've heard of a lot of women that don't lose the baby weight till they stop breastfeeding

I wouldn't go by the scale, I'd measure. Just think of how heavy your breasts could be and that could counter the weight lost. Second, lack of sleep and/or stress is a serious buster in weight loss efforts (in case you're still working on little to no sleep).

I've gained 18lbs since breastfeeding and almost 5 months pp...that's with trying to be healthy
