What to do when you find out your pregnant

I've just found out I'm pregnant and was wondering what is the next step I need to take? I live in the UK so things might be a little different here compared to other countries. Do I go to the doctors and get them to do a pregnancy test or do I contact a midwife and book an appointment? What happens after that? Will I be booked in for a scan?

I scheduled an appointment with my regular family doctor and said I thought I was, they ordered for a urine and blood test and when they confirmed the pregnancy they sent me to an OB!

I was exactly the same when I found out. I had no idea what I should do! I live in the UK too. I rang the doctors who asked me to come in to do a test there if I was unsure. I was sure I was pregnant after doing about 12 home pregnancy tests so they just booked an appointment for me with a community midwife. I didn't see the midwife for a month and I think that's pretty normal. Then they will book your scan and hospital appointments from there. I wanted to have my appointments and give birth at a different hospital to the one nearest to my doctors so I just told the midwife at the first appointment and she sorted it out for me. Oh and congratulations!!! x
