when to stop swaddling?

When did you stop swaddling your baby? My little one is 2 months old and constantly keeps startling himself in his sleep with his arms flailing around. The swaddle has helped keep him less restless, however he keeps breaking out of it and wants his hands in his mouth to sloth him.

I believe you're supposed to stop when they can turn over onto their bellies.

My son is 3 1/2 months and I still swaddle him, mainly because he wakes himself up with the arm flapping.

My pediatrician told me once they break out of the swaddle try a swaddle sack that has Velcro or a sleep sack.

I stopped at 4 weeks old. I read something that said swaddling can increase Sids risk also so started fussing around the same time so I stopped.

Try a sleeveless sleeping bag it stops them from startling and lets them have their arms out. For my daughter I got one that you could take one hand out and leave one in and then take both when they were ready I found that helped ease her into not being swaddled

We stopped around 3 weeks old and just used a sleeveless zip up Halo sleep sack since then.

We always left one arm out of the swaddle just in case she needed it at night-imagine having having a facial itch you couldn't scratch!!! Àhhhhhhh! Lol but switched to footie pajamas at about two months and got her a slightly bigger size so we could under-dress her for cooler weather.

We stopped when she started rolling over in hers, about 9 weeks. We lucked out that she hasn't minded so far. She did usually break her arms out of it though, as early as 3 weeks. We went straight from the swaddle to footie pajamas.
