What exactly is co-sleeping ?

Ladies what exactly is co-sleeping? I go too bed sleep for a few hours then I'm up & can't go back too sleep ?

My baby slept in our room but I didn't refer to it as co-sleeping. I always called it room sharing. He was in his own bed. 
I've always thought co-sleeping is a co-sleeper attached to the bed and bed sharing as the baby is just in the bed with you.
