can someone clear this up for me? protected or not during placebo week?

Question

Okay. I've read that you are protected during your placebo week as long as you've been faking your active pills correctly and consistently. BUT then I've read that you can become unprotected once you've missed a dose or two of pills.

Isn't a placebo week missing a whole WEEK of pills, not just a day or two?

Are you only protected during the placebo week because you've been taking it for 3 weeks straight? And if you miss a pill or 2 you're unprotected because it's in the middle of the active pills?

Why does this confuse me lol 🙈 I've been on birth control since March but just recently we stopped using a condom, and last night had sex but I'm on the placebo week. So it got me thinking and now I'm all ?¿?

Answer

If you take all three weeks of your active pills and do not miss a single one or take one late, you are protected from pregnancy during your period week. If you miss a pill or more during the active weeks, you are not protected until you take active pills for 7 days in a row. It would follow then, that if in the seven days comes your break week, you are not protected for your break week. ( it's also highly likely you'll have breakthrough bleeding because you missed more than one pill. )
