To shower or not to shower...🤔

Baby shower that is.  So I don't have a ton of female friends, and I don't have a huge extended family in the area either.  I'm trying to decide if having a small I guess they call them "sprinkles" these days at my house is too hokey?  I just don't want to go through renting a venue, buying deco, food, games, etc and spending more having the shower than it would be worth.  If only 5-10 people show up, I may end up spending more on the shower than I would have spent on just preparing for baby on our own.  Is anyone else just having something simple and small?
