Vacation and Maternity Leave


I spoke to HR today who said I could use my vacation days before my 12 weeks of FMLA unpaid leave in order to get off of work now without sacrificing time at home with my new baby. All I have to do is convince my boss to let me do that, which I'm hoping won't be hard. I've got a horrible upper respiratory infection, so I look and sound pretty pathetic lol If I don't use my vacation time, it'll be gone by the time I return after January anyways.

I've got over 2 weeks of vacation time saved up, so I'm thinking of asking to start vacation at 38 weeks and use it until the day she's born, then I can start my 12 weeks of FMLA. Is anyone else doing this, or has heard of this? I'm a little afraid that it's too good to be true.
