the wrong birth control

Samantha
I just want to share my experience with you ladies.
I've been with my boyfriend for five years now. We've had a few scares and in those years and I just recently started taking the pill. Now before I have anyone passing judgement on me for not being on birth control sooner, I suffer from bipolar disorder( and birth control is added estrogen and can throw off my already chemical imbalance), and I'm a migraine sufferer. That being said I was very hesitant to take birth control. Well my boyfriend just became a cop for the city and im in school majoring in history. All is going pretty well for us. I decided that because things are going so great I don't want to risk getting pregnant. ( again I feel the need to clearify because this world is very judgmental, I'm not saying having a baby is the end of the world. I can't wait for the day I'm a mother. But I don't want to bring a child into the world right now. Not until I have my degree, have a stable teaching job, I'm married, and have a house in a wonderful town with a great school system.) Anyways. I went to the doctors to get on birth control. After a not so long talk with the Doctor he prescribed me Cyred. I took it for a week and was convinced I was pregnant. I was so nauseous and I became sick. I thought it was morning sickness. Then my migraines set in. I had a crippling migraine for five days. I missed work and fell behind on school. I stopped by my sister in law's house and talked to her about this. She immediately told me to stop taking the birth control. I was getting Waaay too much estrogen. She went through the same thing after she had her second baby and so didn't a close friend of ours. She suggested the mini pill. After we talked, that night my alarm went off to take my birth control and I didn't take it. It wasn't worth me feeling the way I was. The next morning I woke up, didn't feel nauseous and for the first time in a week I didn't have a migraine. It was great! I called my doctor that day and asked to speak to another doctor. I told her about my pre-existing migraines and she became noticeably agitated that the other doctor would put me on the highest dose of estrogen. After we talked she prescribed be the mini pill. So now I'm on birth control and migraine free( well the birth control isn't adding to my migraines)
I guess what I want to pass on from my experience is, you know your body. Do right by it. Don't be afraid to get a second option. And there are so many birth controls out there that the one you are prescribed might not be the perfect match.
